Welcome to "A Lacrosse Weekend" my weekly compilation of thoughts, ideas, stories, myths, truths, about the great game of lacrosse. I hope you enjoy it!

Podcast on Re-Classing

I did a Phi-Lacrosse-ophy Podcast with 3d NE Director, great friend and one of the best and smartest guys in the lacrosse business, Matt Rowley.  Our topic: Re-Classing.  We know there will be a lot of hate mail on this topic, but we felt educating folks was the right thing to do.  Matt and I dive into the lacrosse phenomenon of re-classing; its origins, when to consider doing it, how it works, why it won't work for you, and much more.  This is a must listen if you are a parent of an aspiring boys or girls lacrosse player.  Even if you despise the concept, you might as well know what you're up against!  Click here for the Re-Classing Podcast with Matt Rowley.

Inside the 8 Podcast

Colleen Magarity and I are having a blast with our new podcast on all things women's lacrosse.  Each week we touch on interesting lacrosse topics; coaching our HS teams, DI college lacrosse games and analysis, drills/skills/concepts, a segment on college lacrosse recruiting and finally, we try and have special guests on the show!.  This week's college lacrosse recruiting tip:  the concept of the "Mid Season" highlight videos especially if you're a junior in HS.

If you're a parent, a player, a coach or just a fan of women's lacrosse, I think you will love this podcast!  Click here for Inside the 8 Podcast

In Season Podcast with PLL Chaos Andy Towers

Andy is hands down one of the smartest and most knowledgeable lacrosse minds in the nation!  He is also SO fun to talk to.  His takes are genuine and his humor is off the charts.  Each week we break down the AT Top 20, pick the Axia Time National Players of the week, and analysis and picks for the upcoming top games of the week!  If you are a college lacrosse junkie, I think you will love this podcast!  Click here to listen to the AT Podcast!

 My new favorite Drill

One of the best parts about coaching is the constant evolution and learning!  If you follow me you know I'm a huge believer in the power of Free Play and creating Decision Making opportunities in player development.  Keep Away Drills have become a huge part of my drill/game repertoire and this 4v3 Crank Passing Keep Away Drill is awesome!  There is benefit on both sides of the ball:

Defense: Rotate, communication of "Ball", "Left" , "Right" and the adjacent responsibilities of skip pass lanes, rotating and approaches

Offense: i'm instructing them to use their "Drag" wind up technique and crank their passes.  I want the offensive players to learn how to manipulate the off ball defenders looking for the skip pass but able to throw to either adjacent.

This drill will replace "Crank Passing" which I love, but doesn't involve decision making.

 JM3 Program Consulting

I'm excited to announce a new consulting program for Coaches who want a 1 on 1  opportunity to work with me on things like: player development, practice planning, problem solving, watching film, as well as building game plans.  The  JM3 Coaches Training Program content is an incredible resource, but the opportunity to work hands on with coaches and programs is awesome!  I currently work with boys HS coaches, girls HS coaches, DI women's lacrosse and youth organizations.   I currently have space for 1 more client.  For more information, please shoot me an email at [email protected].

College Lacrosse Recruiting

Every time I have a new, great idea, my wife looks at me, smiles, and says, "i'm sure you do!" and thankfully proceeds to listen!  This idea is awesome and I bet it will become standard operating procedure in emails to college coaches.

Highlight GIF's: embedding a 15 second video of your highlights in your email to a coach that allows them to see your best stuff with out having to click a link.  We all are more likely to watch a GIF than click a link.  This will give you the best chance getting a coach to read your email and click on your highlight video.  You like this idea?

A Sick Move

I did a webinar in January with Ryder Garnsey and it was a total revelation for me on the value of the "Back in" Post up.  There are many facets to this technique that give a dodger an advantage.  I love this Step Back move with a Powless Pump Screen Shot from the Back in Post up position.  If you want to learn more, check out the JM3 Coaches Training Program 7 Day Free Trial!

Have a great weekend!
